Evohaler 100 micrograms per actuation is a type of metered-dose inhaler (MDI) used to deliver a specific dose of medication directly to the lungs. It is commonly prescribed for the treatment and prevention of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The active ingredient is usually a bronchodilator like salbutamol or a corticosteroid like beclometasone, depending on the brand and specific medication.
Uses:
- Bronchodilator (e.g., Salbutamol): Provides quick relief from acute asthma symptoms and exercise-induced bronchospasm.
- Corticosteroid (e.g., Beclometasone): Used for long-term control and prevention of asthma symptoms.
Application:
- Shake the inhaler well before each use.
- Remove the mouthpiece cover and check for any obstructions.
- Breathe out fully to empty your lungs.
- Place the mouthpiece in your mouth and close your lips around it.
- Begin to breathe in slowly and deeply, then press down on the inhaler to release one dose of medication.
- Continue to breathe in slowly and deeply.
- Hold your breath for as long as comfortable (typically 10 seconds), then exhale slowly.
- If a second inhalation is required, wait about 30 seconds to 1 minute before repeating the steps.
- Replace the mouthpiece cover after use.
Dosage:
- Bronchodilator (e.g., Salbutamol): One or two inhalations (100-200 mcg) as needed, up to a maximum of 4 times a day.
- Corticosteroid (e.g., Beclometasone): Typically, one or two inhalations twice daily, as prescribed by a healthcare provider.
Precautions:
- Rinse your mouth with water after using a corticosteroid inhaler to prevent oral thrush.
- Do not exceed the prescribed dose to avoid potential side effects such as palpitations, tremors, or headaches.
- Inform your healthcare provider of any other medical conditions, especially heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, or thyroid disorders.
- Consult with a healthcare provider if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
